To help kick off the grilling season, here’s a homemade barbecue sauce recipe that is sure to have you licking your lips (and your fingers)!
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 finely chopped clove of garlic
1 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon mustard
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Few dashes of hot pepper sauce, to taste
In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter and then sauté the onions until tender. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes. This sauce is good for chicken, pork, or beef. Refrigerate any leftover sauce.
